MINA VELOURS
How did you get your stage-name?
“Mina” because I’m cat-like and graceful. “Velours” because of my silky-smooth and shiny hair.
What is your fondest memory at the Crazy Horse thus far?
The fox that ate my Louboutin shoes while we were on tour in London! I also loved getting close to the dolphins we saw whilst in Tahiti.
How do you get motivated when you get up every day?
With a cup of Moka at the local Starbucks.
Who is the woman that inspires you most?
Rachel McAdams. To me this woman is absolutely awe-inspiring and gifted.
What’s your best beauty and/or fitness tip?
Have a nice glass of carrot, orange and ginger juice.
What is “Crazy” and what is “not Crazy” for you?
What’s Crazy is not being crazy.
What is your favorite act in the show?
“Chain Gang”, the number I saw when I came to the Crazy Horse for the very first time. Powerful and sensual, I was deeply moved by it.
How do you become a Crazy Horse dancer?
You need to have been trained as such, have character, a distinct expression in your eyes, possess the appropriate physical attributes, a beautiful arched back and you need to be able to breathe deeply, so you can relax the day you go in for the audition.
How do you prepare before getting on stage? Are there any rituals you go through?
I get there an hour and a half early. I put on my makeup, warm up for half an hour and go bug my buddies in the dressing room. Then I put on my costume and am always one of the first on stage.
In only three words, how would you define a Crazy Girl?
A sensual, elegant and charming woman.
